The historic, World Heritage Site, city of Vigan is a short, 30-minute, drive from the The Oriental Terraces Spa & Resort but there are many other interesting places to visit close by: within three minutes of the resort is Suso Beach - a long stretch of golden sand facing the deliciously blue South China Sea, great for swimming, fishing or just relaxing with a picnic. Still largely undeveloped, Suso Beach still offers tropical refreshments with the wave of a hand.

The mountainous province of Abra is a 40-minute drive away. Abra is set amongst the majestic Cordillera mountains that shelter the resort from tropical storms and capture the life giving rains that ensure our over-abundant spring water resources. The beautiful rivers and mountain trails offer many spectacularly picturesque locations for picnics, fishing and photography.

The church in nearby Santa Maria has been designated a World Heritage Site. All around there are fine examples of magnificent Spanish architecture and in San Esteban (five minutes away) there is the old Spanish lighthouse.

Pinsal Falls is a nationally famous beauty spot - just 30 minutes from the resort. It has been the setting for many films and also is famous for ' Angalo's Footprint' -- the legendary Ilocano giant.

• San Fernando - 1 hour 45 minutes (South)
  The provincial capital of La Union; a vibrant cosmopolitan city with an active night-life, quality
  shopping mall, good restaurants and a range of accommodations.
